NEW Aromatherapy Roll On: Stress Away

Hark, all ye vanilla lovers! Young Living just launched a new essential oil blend that contains pure vanilla. Oh, yes, I am tickled to pieces because many people in the past have asked me if Young Living has anything with a vanilla scent!

Introducing Stress Away™ Essential Oil Roll-On—the perfect on-the-go solution for everyday stress relief! The new Stress Away™ Roll-On is the first product to feature the relaxing combination of Young Living Therapeutic Grade™ (YLTG) lime essential oil and vanilla absolute! With an invigorating scent, Stress Away’s unique aroma includes lavender and copaiba essential oils to reduce mental rigidity and restore equilibrium, while key naturally-occurring constituents cedrol and eugenol reduce nervous tension*. A splash of Ocotea essential oil—Young Living’s newest oil from Ecuador—adds an exotic touch.

Did You Know?
The take-anywhere portability of the Stress Away Roll-On allows you to manage stress even when on the go*.
The vanilla in Stress Away doesn't contain water, like most absolutes on the market.
Regular lime oil, like most citrus oils, contains coumarins that are potentially photosensitizing and damaging to the skin. YLTG lime essential oil is coumarin-free to minimize skin sensitivity, especially when in the sun! Pick up Stress Away for a natural solution to everyday stress!

Fun, Fragrant, and Fantastic Young Living Convention!

I had good intentions of posting this last Sunday, but you know how it is coming back from three days away from home. So much catching up to do! I am putting a little video together, but I will need the help of my media assistant (ahem, husband) to compile and edit. Young Living usually does a highlight video which I will post when it is available.

The Kick Off welcome reception on Wednesday night was top notch to say the least. The food was oh-so-yummy, there was live jazz playing, ice sculptures, and the Ningxia Red was flowing.
Some of the appetizer delights included mounds of stuffed olives, turkey/asparagus wraps, spicy chicken tenders, walleye cakes with lemon aoili, spinach artichoke dip, and turkey meatballs. Almost everything was seasoned/flavored with an essential oil like basil, thyme, lemon, etc. MMMM!
Having a great time with dear oil-lovin' friends Shelly (left) and Sara (right). Shelly is my next door neighbor and a distributor in my Young Living organization. Sara is on the worship team at my church and also lives on our street. Shelly and I basked in the essence of grapefruit at the aroma/oxygen bar in the Product Expo and did lots of giggling.

Gittin' educated. A whirlwind of workshops and presentations, so inspiring for this OilGirl!

This photo just doesn't do the convention stage justice. The lights, botanical images, and waterfall were truly gorgeous. Gary Young, founder of Young Living, spoke several times and shared all about his adventures growing aromatic plants on YLs new farm in Ecuador. He also showed a breathtaking video of the quest for Frankincense in the Middle East. Hopefully parts of this video will be available on YouTube soon so I can share! We all got an exciting sneak peak of the theme of next Grand Convention June 2010 held in Salt Lake City.

Off I Go To Young Living Essential Oils Convention!

It is FINALLY here!! The big kick off is tonight for Young Living's annual Grand Convention held in Minneapolis, MN! I will be staying with friends near the convention center and probably will not have an opportunity to blog while I am there. Neither I, nor my phone, is technologically advanced enough to post updates on the internet, so everyone will just have to handle the suspense until I return. Can't wait to share all the wonderful information I gather about essential oils and natural health. And there will be new products launched this week! Stay tuned!

Discontinued Free Sample Offer

Due to budget restraints, I am no longer offering free samples of Young Living Essential Oils. I just received too many requests from individuals who only wanted something for free. As an independent distributor this was getting very costly for me, not only in oils but in postage.

Young Living has a very good return policy, so if you would like to try the products and are dissatisfied for any reason you can return them to the company. See policy below.

A member may return any opened product with which the member is dissatisfied within thirty (30) days after shipment for a credit on the member’s Young Living® account of the purchase price and applicable sales tax (less shipping charges). A member may return any sealed, opened product or defective product with which a member is dissatisfied up to ninety (90) days after shipment for credit of the purchase price and applicable sales tax (less shipping charges and a 10% handling fee).

I have been using Young Living oils and products for almost 10 years and have never needed to return anything-the quality is outstanding!

Facing Influenza With Essential Oils

You have probably seen the billboards and the TV ads asking the question "Are YOU the face of influenza?" To me, this question has victim written all over it. Don't get me wrong, we should definitely be concerned about contracting the flu, but should not fear it. With its dramatic tone and ominous black and white photos, the influenza awareness campaigns really play up the fear factor in a very subtle way. If one pays close attention, this campaign is actually an advertisement for vaccines.
My question would be "Is your immune system ready to face influenza?" Powerful bacteria and virus fighting essential oils are a great asset to your medicine cabinet for supporting the immune system. Here are some of the simple things that can be done to assist the body's natural defenses:

#1 Pray for your immune system and for the protection of your loved ones health many times daily. Do not be afraid, only believe!

  • Wash hands often, and avoid using unwashed hands to touch eyes, mouth, or nose. Cover nose and mouth with a sleeve or tissue if possible when sneezing or coughing. Avoid close contact with individuals that are not well.

  • In between washing, use a natural hand sanitizer with germ fighting essential oils such as Young Living's Thieves Waterless Hand Sanitizer. Avoid Purell, Dial, and many other common commercial sanitizers since soaking up all those synthetic chemical antibacterial agents and perfumes through our skin isn't promoting good health!

  • Get enough restful sleep.

  • Avoid sugary foods, this is especially tough during the holiday season. Sugar promotes acid and mucus production in the body. This can throw off proper ph levels which then creates a welcome environment for bacteria and viruses to thrive. NO high fructose corn syrup! Daily probiotics before bed encourages healthy intestinal flora with good bacteria.

  • Be aware of psychoneuroimmunology, the study of how emotional and other psychological responses influence the biochemistry of the brain, hormone production, and the immune response. Our thoughts affect our bodies' immune system responses. Stress, fear, and worry can lower the production of the cells needed to fight disease.

  • Educate yourself about vaccine risks and think twice about getting the flu shot. As with many vaccines, the often permanent damaging effects to our health can be much worse than getting the disease/virus.

  • Maintain proper Vitamin D and antioxidant supplement intake as well as eating a healthy diet rich in essential fatty acids, fiber, and antioxidant fruits and vegetables.

Diffuse, diffuse, diffuse!
If you don't have a high quality cold air diffuser in your home yet, now is the perfect time to get into the practice of diffusing essential oils daily to create an unfriendly environment for the flu virus to hang out. Heating essential oils can damage the fragile therapeutic molecules, so candle burners, light bulb rings, and a pan of hot water on the stove are not good methods for diffusing. Some cold air diffusers like Young Living's Ultrasonic model have a built in timer. Running a diffuser in a central room of the home for 15 minutes every hour works well to disperse the micro fine oil mist and circulate it through the air where they can remain suspended for days. In very large homes, one diffuser is needed on each level for maximum therapeutic benefit.

Below are the essential oils that should be stocked in every home's medicine cabinet this fall!
Top virus-fighting essential oils for diffusing:
Young Living's Thieves Essential Oil Blend (see the full Thieves line of products)
Lemon
Ravensara
Tea Tree (melaleuca alternifolia)
Eucalyptus radiata
Top virus-fighting essential oils to apply topically:
Young Living's Thieves Essential Oil Blend
Young Living's Di-Gize Essential Oil Blend
Young Living's ImmuPower Essential Oil Blend
Peppermint
Mountain Savory
Oregano
Top virus-fighting essential oil supplements for internal use:
Young Living's Inner Defense Softgels
Young Living's Digest and Cleanse Softgels

DILUTE one EO single or blend 50:50 with a carrier oil and massage 2-4 drops on the chest, stomach, or lower back 2-4 times daily. Rotating singles and blends for each application works well so there aren't too many scents combining at the same time!
COMPRESS: Apply diluted oils above to lower abdomen and place a very warm damp towel 1-2 times daily.
Influenza Recipe for bath (from Essential Oils Desk Reference, 4th edition)

  • 2 drops Eucalyptus radiata

  • 6 drops frankincense

  • 3 drops blue cypress

  • 6 drops spruce

  • 15 drops ravensara

  • 1 drop wintergreen

Stir above essential oils thoroughly into 1 cup of Epsom salt or baking soda, then add mixture to hot bath water while tub is filling. Soak in hot bath until water cools. If you have very sensitive skin do a hot foot soak with a quarter of the mixture instead of full bath.

Every person's immune system responds in its own unique way when exposed to a bacteria or virus. There are no guaranteed silver bullets that will make us invincible, however essential oils have proven to be very beneficial and effective before, during, and after illness. To get the full therapeutic potential, essential oils MUST be therapeutic/medicinal grade products and MUST be used consistently. Playing around casually with them here and there just won't be effective especially in the face of a tough virus like H1N1. Learn as much as you can and arm yourself with these powerful, natural virus-fighting gifts from nature! These tips are for educational purposes only and not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. Anyone who has a compromised immune system or thinks they may have the flu should consult with their health care provider.

Our Strong Tower

"From the ends of the earth I call to you,
I call as my heart grows faint;
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
For you have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the foe.
I long to dwell in your tent forever
and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. Selah."

Being At Peace With Change....

This is probably the last month I will be at my current massage studio location. The chiropractor I am subleasing from is moving and I will most likely need to move out by October 1st. I have a wonderful spacious room with a whole wall of windows that overlooks open prairieland.
My second story haven of peace has seen many hours of tranquility and healing over the last 2 years. When I first heard that I would need to move out, I was extremely disappointed. It isn't just that I could no longer enjoy the room, but my clients really appreciated the location very much too.
As I have been working through a wide spectrum of emotions lately, God whispers to me "trust me, this is my business, not yours. Wherever you go, you will still be at peace."
So, I am becoming content to move to another clinic owned by Christian chiropractors who have welcomed me with open arms and many financial opportunities abound there for me as well.
"Agree with God, and be at peace; thereby good will come to you."

Awakening In The Apothecary: My Own Story Part 2

" A New Year With Herbs"
was the caption on the big poster I taped to our refrigerator door one New Years Day. Was it 1985? I don't exactly recall. It was illustrated with many colorful drawings of various plants that may not have been all that botanically correct. What I remember most was that I posted it with gusto and serious conviction as if a huge chapter was being turned in our lives. This defining moment of resolution was broken by my younger sister who quipped "if we are starting the new year with herbs, why are we making popcorn balls?"

My family lived on a 6 acre hobby farm most of my growing up years and the meadows surrounding us were bountiful with a variety of medicinal plants. Humbly flourishing right in the middle of our driveway was the sweet smelling chamomile with its bright yellow flowers that stained our hands when we crushed them to further enjoy the sweet scent. Mom was sick a lot when we lived on the farm. She battled kidney, bladder, and sinus infections, bronchitis, gingivitis, and then horrific migraines that often lasted for weeks. There was no health insurance and we rarely saw a doctor during those years. When Mom did get prescriptions now and then, her liver couldn't handle the drugs.

Necessity is the mother of invention, isn't that how it goes? Our rule of thumb as kids was to pick something pretty, make Mom a tea out of it, then go find the big green book to see what it was good for. Oh, the thrill of learning that the fuzzy leaves of mullein were soothing to the bronchial or those Seuss-like little purple heads of red clover cleansed the kidneys and bladder! My sisters and I would go herb harvesting and arrange our fresh stash on a cookie sheet to dry. Then wide mouth Kerr canning jars were filled and labeled neatly in my mother's handwriting with her black Scripto pen. All the jars were placed in alphabetical order on shelves we crafted out of barn bricks and scrap boards to make space for our herbal remedies in the tiny room we called the pantry.

I spent many blissful hours hovering over our apothecary, opening jars, sniffing deeply, then opening another. There was something so comforting about those jars, so dependable, like being surrounded by caring friends. Occasionally on a winter night I would grab blankets and a pillow to sleep on the pantry floor in front of the big freezer. A bit of heat escaped from the metal grate at the bottom of the freezer. The kitchen clock ticked on the other side of the wall while earthy aromas lulled me to happier times running barefoot in the green meadows. I was so cold.

Congratulations to comment # 7 who is Lisa at All That And A Box of Rocks for being drawn the winner of a bottle of Young Living's Relaxation Massage Oil!

I used the free Random Number generator at Random.org, but I haven't been able to figure out how to post the widget with the numbers on it in a post. I have seen it on other blogs. Can anyone tell me how? :)
